Classical and Medieval Guitarist

Neil is an accomplished classical guitarist who also specialises in medieval music. A wonderful addition to your wedding particularly if you are planning a themed wedding such as medieval or celtic.

Neil first picked up the guitar at very young age of 6 years old. His parents encouraged his music and invested in lessons at the Arts Guild in Greenock, plus he studied classical guitar with a private tutor and achieved grade 3.

Neil also concentrated on the electric guitar where his influences have been Queen, AC/DC, Rainbow, Van Halen, Motorhead, David Bowie, Kiss and Rush.

Neil has played in bands such as Simeon, The Destroyers, Movie Culture and T.a.i.n.t. - Taint being an industrial outfit using hard sounds and heavy guitars. Movie Culture was a three piece band that managed to release a cd single and have had radio play.

Then he continued to study classical guitar up to grade 8. Working on several jobs which were paying for the lessons with a private tutor in Gourock. Now studying for a diploma In Classical guitar with (Tony Willis).

The cd "Medieval Classic Melodies" was recorded at Jim Keilt's studio in Glasgow. Neil let a few people listen to it and sold a hundred copies within a month. "Medieval Classic Melodies" has done well considering Neil has no record company but is supported by CD Baby who are the largest independent music distributor in the USA and Europe.

A new CD is currently in pre-production and will be recorded next year, which will include 4 new original guitar tracks.

Neil's full time job is teaching Guitar, drums, keyboard, piano and mandolin. With around 40 students per week, some of whom are studying for exams. Neil also plays in a covers band called JumpStart - a two peice outfit covering songs from the 60s till now. Paul Newman on lead vocals and bass guitar and Neil on lead guitar and backing vocals.
