There are more reception venues, castles and romantic venues in Scotland than in any other place in the United Kingdom. Perhaps it's the romance of the Scottish Highlands or the emotion of movies such as Braveheart that make us think of Scotland when planning a wedding or romantic get-away.

Regardless of why you've chosen to marry in Scotland, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a wedding venue. There are castles, ruins, loch-side country houses, country estates, formal homes, spectacular hotels, waterfalls, parks, glens and the list goes on. There are literally hundreds of places you could choose from.

Here we're focusing on wedding reception venues and so we've listed some of our favourites. As musicians and entertainers, we're priviledged to play some of the great houses of the UK. Plus, some very interesting and unusual places. As a harpist, I've played harp music under a waterfall in Perthshire. Didn't make my harp very happy but the happy couple were chuffed and that's the main thing.
